Ostensibly a view of the base of the minaret including the external staircase, this image is perhaps as interesting to modern eyes for the inclusion of the two figures. Their dark forms punctuate the light area of the blank wall in a similar way to the dark windows and shadows in the walls above, while adding a human dimension both literally and socially.
