Lot Essay

Béni-Haçan (also Bani Hasan) is situated between Cairo and Luxor, on the eastern bank of the Nile. It is an Egyptian Middle Kingdom archaeological site, noted for its 39 rock-cut tombs of the 11th- and 12th-dynasty officials of the 16th Upper Egyptian province. This photograph shows the entrance to one of the tombs.

There are two other similar small views of the same site in the photographer's archive, each in a vertical format.
