Lot Essay

The French firm Gaumont & Cie under Leon Gaumont was responsible for manufacturing the cast-iron cabinets and mechanisms for mutoscopes made in France, Belgium, Holland (and later in Britain). The company contracted the cabinet castings to a foundry outside Paris.
