Lot Essay

The topsail schooner Brenton was built in Lelean's yard at Mevagissey (Cornwall) in 1861. Registered at 82 tons, she measured 71 feet in length with an 18½ foot beam and operated out of Fowey as a coastal trader around the British Isles. The identification of Captain Charles Warne as her master dates this work to circa 1870.
