crafted in the form of a Royal Naval ratings straw hat, the blue enamel band with yachts name is tied in a bow which contains suspension ring, hinged crown stamped '18' with glazed keepsake and lock of hair the underside containing a compass with blued steel needle and bevelled glass guard -- 1in. The most plausible suggestion for this unusual souvenir is that on the death of his mother, the rather more amused King Edward VII commissioned an unknown number of these witty-yet-elegant pendants which could be presented to his lady guests aboard his newly assumed yacht.
