Built at Portsmouth Dockyards in 1895, H.M.S. Prince George displaced 14,900 tons. With a length of 390 feet and a breath of 75 feet she could carry her complement of 757 men at a speed of 16.5 knots. H.M.S. Prince George served with the Channel Squadron until 1906 after which she transferred to the Home Fleet as their flagship until 1909. She was refitted after a collision with H.M.S. Shannon in 1909 and became part of the 7th Battle Squadron in 1912. During the First World War she served in the Dardanelles campaign where she suffered damage from Turkish gunfire and had a lucky escape when a torpedo which struck her of Cape Helles failed to explode. She was renamed H.M.S. Victorious in 1918 and was broken up after foundering in 1921
