A Minton pâte-sur-pâte plate
Year cypher for 1894, impressed marks, crowned globe mark in green
Decorated by Marc Louis Solon with 'The Beacon', depicting a nymph wearing flowing robes, standing on a rock holding a flaming torch, with one hand held to her forehead and looking out to sea, boats on the coast behind and birds flying about her, signed, on a dark-brown ground within a pale-pink band gilt with a band of ivy leaves, the border gilt with stylised stars, within a gilt dentil rim (minor surface scratches and rubbing to gilding)
9 5/8 in. (24.4 cm.) diam.
