A Minton pâte-sur-pâte plate
Year cypher for 1871, impressed marks
Decorated by Marc Louis Solon with 'Bouclier', depicting a nymph wearing loose drapes, walking on a horizontally balanced bow, holding a shield with a heart being targeted by arrows, monogrammed, on a black ground within a band decorated with blue foliage and fan-shaped flowers, suspending gilt pendant hearts between blue concentric lines, gilt dentil rim (minor surface scratches and rubbing to gilding)

This plate was almost certainly one of the fourteen dessert plates decorated by Marc Louis Solon for the Vienna International Exhibition of 1873.
