A Sèvres-style gilt-metal-mounted slender urn-shaped vase

Painted by Defer with a classical maiden playing a triangle, probably Erato, with a putto in attendance in a continuous wooded river landscape, between pale-blue and cream-ground sections, gilt with berried laurels, flower-heads, panels of musical trophies and meandering fruiting vines between husk ornament, with gilt-metal-mounted rim, ram's head handles issuing barley-twist scrolls and gilt-metal collar, the lower part with a gilt-metal acanthus leaf band, the footrim with a ring of berried laurels on a square base, the canted corners with scroll and acanthus feet
