Gewurztraminer Cuvée Anne--Vintage 1976
Alsace. Domaine-bottled: Schlumberger
Excellent appearance
In original cartons

Unforgettable as the year of the great drought across Europe, 1976 produced grapes of unequalled health and ripeness. Cuvée Anne is reported to have attained the highest must weight ever recorded in Alsace, so high that the mustimeter simply could not measure it. The sample had to be diluted to half strength and the result doubled in order to attain a reading. Cuvée Anne was only produced in two vintages in the 1970s, namely 1971 and 1976. It is the quintessence of Séléction de Grains Nobles. Clive Coates, in 'The Vine', gave this wine ten stars (double his normal maximum score) and notes 'A privilege to drink'
