Further details
Kottabos was a game popular at Greek drinking parties in which the player, reclining on a couch, threw a little wine from his cup at a mark, whether an empty basin or little saucers floating in a water-filled bowl or some sophisticated variant. The game was regarded as a type of libation and a player often invoked the name of his beloved as he made a cast.
