THE GREAT GRAVES ESTATE OF HAUT-BRION


The oldest of all Bordeaux wine estates, Haut-Brion was for quite a time also the most expensive. It was also the first Bordeaux wine estate to be mentioned in English literature, from Samual Pepys's diary on April 10 1663. It was then referred to as 'a sort of French wine called Ho Bryan'.

More recently, at Ziegler's tasting, a richly fragrant magnum with a distinctive tobacco-like flavour, dry and somewhat unbending. The taste conjured up embers in a drying fire... At best **** MB, Vintage Wine
