A LOUIS XV GOLD SNUFF-BOX
by Henry-Daniel Robineau (fl. 1754-1793), marked, Paris, 1766/1767, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prévost 1762-1768
Shuttle-shaped box, the panels on cover, sides and base engine-turned with vertical bands illustrating three different types of guilloché: wavy bands of fluted reeding, a coin pattern and a pattern of tiny cushion-shaped studs, all panels framed by flutes, the matted gold borders chased with flowerheads and leaves, the sides divided by four tapering pilasters with scrolling ends containing husks on a matted ground
