Paris, 1768-1774, with the charge and discharge marks of Julien Alaterre 1768-1774 and the counter-mark of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780
Oval box, the lid and sides of Japanese-style gold and silver lacquer painted on a black ground with reeds and branches and inlaid with burgau pellets, the inside of the lid with Japanese-style nashiji gold lacquer decorated with flowers, the base and inside of the base of similar nashiji gold lacquer, the gold mounts on lid and base chased with scallops and stylized acanthus, the sides of the lid chased with a ribbon-twist motif of a reeded ribbon twisted with a garland of roses and foliage chased in pink and green gold
