Rectangular box, the hinged cover, sides and hinged base with panels of peaked scalloped engine-turning, the sablé borders chased with trailing stylized acanthus, the cover centred by an oval miniature under glass depicting a gentleman facing right in blue coat, powdered short wig, within a frame of stylized acanthus, the inside of the lid fitted with a mirror, the base with two compartments, the oblong narrow compartment containing a gold-handled brush with heart-shaped suspension ring, the larger compartment with hinged lid engine-turned and bordered as the exterior to contain glue, the hinged base fitted with a second mirror opening to reveal a shallow interior intended to contain patches
