A GERMAN JEWELLED ENAMEL AND GOLD SNUFF-BOX
by Carl Martin Weishaupt's Sons, marked, with the Hanau town mark, circa 1850/1860, with a 14-carat gold mark and struck with inventory number '2515'
Cartouche-shaped box, the lid, lobed baluster sides and base engraved, cast and embossed with foliate scrolls on a matted ground, the cover applied with an oval convex translucent blue radiating guilloché enamel plaque set with a flowerspray in silver-mounted old- and rose-cut diamonds, within a matted and fluted gold border, flanked by six silver-mounted old-cut diamonds surrounded by blue enamel rings, the base centred with a reserve engraved with a posy of flowers surrounded by feathered scrolls
