by Guidon, Gide & Blondet, marked, Geneva, circa 1800, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold, the enamel in the manner of Jean-Louis Richter
Octagonal box, the cover inset with an octagonal enamel miniature finely painted with the Education of young Achilles by the centaur Chiron, framed by a stamped gold leaf-and-berry border surrounded by a black enamel fillet, the canted corners with triangular matted gold projections chased with trophies on a matted ground, flanked by vertical black and translucent blue flinqué enamel panels of vertical cords, within engraved taille d'épargne polished gold bands, the four sides and base identically enamelled, the four corners enamelled in black and engraved with taille d'épargne gold classical busts and animals, reeded gold rims
