AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE RELIEF
Middle Kingdom, Dynasty XII, 1991-1783 B.C.
Sculpted in sunk relief, depicting the tomb owner Sobek-hotep and presumably his wife Nofret, "the beautiful one," seated side by side on a chair, her arm around his shoulder, his hand extended toward an offering table captioned, "...a thousand loaves of bread, a thousand jugs of beer, a thousand cuts of beef, a thousand fowl...," a ewer on a ring stand to the right, with a single line of neat hieroglyphs below for the priest who is "revered under the great god..."
