AN EGYPTIAN CARTONNAGE MUMMY SET
Late Ptolemaic to Early Roman Period, Circa 50 B.C.-50 A.D.
The complete four-piece ensemble brightly painted, including a gilt mummy mask, the face with wide hieroglyphic eyes and cosmetic brows, wearing a tripartite wig, the lappets decorated with symmetrical images of a deity kneeling on the roof of a locked shrine, encircled with a headband and a solar disk propelled by a gilt winged scarab; the chest piece with a winged solar disk, falcon heads, a floral broad collar, and a winged goddess accompanied by sacred wadjet-eyes; the leg piece with a kheker-frieze and the Four Sons of Horus; the foot covering depicting the tops and soles of sandals
