Circa 540 B.C.
One side with the "Rape of Cassandra," the center of the scene dominated by the enormous cult statue of Athena shown in profile to the left wearing a red peplos with patterned details and a high-crested helmet, holding a shield with a flying bird as the blazon, with Ajax moving to the right, armed with a Corinthian helmet and greaves, wielding a sword in his right hand, his left hand extended forward and presumably grasping Cassandra's hair (her head blocked by Athena's shield), Priam's daughter with added white for her flesh, wearing a red chitoniskos, with two nude youths running away to the right and left, both looking back, the youth to the left with a red fillet in his hair, and a standing youth to the right wearing a striped himation; the other side with the "Ambush of Troilos," with Achilles on foot pursuing Troilos on horseback to the right, the youth's second riderless horse keeping pace, the hero fully armed in a crested Corinthian helmet, cuirass and greaves, a sword in his right hand, a woman fleeing to the right, a veiled woman standing to the left, an overturned amphora beneath the horses, a bird beneath Achilles; with rays above the foot and a dotted lotus bud chain above each scene
