A GREEK BRONZE SITULA
Hellenistic Period, Circa Late 4th Century B.C.
Cast with a tall conical body on a raised ring foot, a frieze of stamped double guilloche between raised moldings below the overhanging flat rim, the two handles, rectangular in section, hooked into a double foliate ring on either side, the end of the handles each with a rosette, an elaborate palmette complex along the body of the vessel below each ring, including rosettes and tendrils forming volutes, with volutes in the place of the guilloche frieze, traces of silver overlay along the palmettes and guilloche
