AN APULIAN RED-FIGURED RHYTON
Circa 360-350 B.C.
Molded in the form of a bull's head, with a modeled poll, the hair incised, black-glazed but for the deep nostrils and thickly-lidded eyes which are reserved, the irises and pupils in black, a leaf-shaped charm hanging from the forehead in added white, the bowl with an everted rim, with a draped woman moving to the right but looking back, a mirror in her extended right hand, a phiale in her left, a stele before her, grape clusters hanging above, dots along the groundline, ovolo along the rim, a large palmette on either side of the handle, details in added white and yellow
