An Imari octagonal baluster jar
Circa 1700
painted and gilt with shaped panels of karashishi amongst pine and peonies issuing from rockwork, on a blue ground reserved with flowerhead roundels and scrolling foliage, the shoulder with a band of alternating large and small lappets with trailing flower sprays -- 16in. (40.6cms) high, (rim chip, some crackling).
