A German or Swiss parcel-gilt beaker
Circa 1620, unmarked
Cylindrical and with short stem on spreading circular base with three winged cherubim feet, chased with a band of masks, flowers and shells, the body engraved with three oval cartouches enclosing townscapes, with winged allegorical figures between, with reeded band above and two male and female portrait medallions, birds and a coat-of-arms with the name 'Barbara Reys' and the date '1621', the base of the bowl inset with a coin, the underside of the base engraved 'EX DONO I.P.H.' and with further indistinct prick-engraved inscription, marked on side with later French control mark
