With its richly figured veneers and characteristic pattern, this commode relates to the oeuvre of Pierre Hache (1703-1776) of the celebrated dynasty of furniture-makers from Grenoble. A closely related commode is illustrated in R. Fonvieille, La Dynastie des Hache, Grenoble, 1974, pl. 9.
