With its 'antique' bronzed ornament, restrained ormolu mounts and finely-figured mahogany, this folio cabinet reflects the influence of Bernard Molitor, who became maître in 1787 (U. Leben, Molitor, London, 1992, p.48).

A pair of Baltic commodes of related shape, standing on naturalistic paw feet and on a plinth was sold Christie's New York, Property of a Ditinguished New York Collection, 17 October 1997, lot 127.
