Rossi painted portrait and genre scenes, and exhibited widely. His seaside subjects are particularly charming and often adopt a more Impressionistic style. A work attributed to Rossi, Ship Ahoy!, sold in The Forbes Collection of Victorian Pictures and Works of Art, Christie's, London, 20 February 2003, lot 201, (£23,900).
