Lot Essay

The children are traditionally identified as Mary, Elizabeth and William, children of William Meachin. The administration of the goods of his wife, Elizabeth Meachin of Clyst St. Mary's, deceased, was granted to her daughter Elizabeth on 1 September 1769, suggesting that her siblings may not have survived. Elizabeth married John Gibbs (1726-1774) of Topsham, Devon, a son of Abraham Gibbs of Topsham (1686-1726), in 1751 and died in 1779. She died in 1779.
