Decorated at the centre primarily en grisaille and gilt, with touches of iron-red, sepia and green enamel, with a rural scene, a horse and cart waiting at one side, a mounted figure proceeding along a path beside other figures on foot, another, dismounted crouching beside his horse, and smaller figures in the distance, all within a gilt scrolling acanthus leaf surround, the steep sides rising to an elaborate border with sheaves of wheat, musical instruments and flowers and foliage cascading from gilt scrolls into the interior
