Brightly and finely enamelled with a continuous scene, on one side with a gathered group, some mounted, two dismounted examining and picking out the hoof of one of the horses whilst a groom looks on nearby, the hounds impatiently baying around the huntsman, on the other side similar mounted figures raising their hats to cheer the success of the hounds who have caught the fox, below an underglaze blue and gilt trellis-pattern band at the rim which is repeated at the rim in the interior around a further scene at the centre with the huntsmen and hounds at full gallop chasing their quarry, some restoration

The scenes depicted on this bowl are taken from engravings after paintings by James Seymour. The scenes on this bowl and that in the interior are almost identical to a slightly smaller punch bowl illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 77, fig. 3.32a.
