Queen Marie Therese married Francis of Loraine in 1736, and it is believed this service may have been made to commemorate their marriage. A saucer from the Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 230, fig. 9.107. See also D. F. Lunsingh Scheurleer, Chinese Export Porcelain - Chine de Commande, London, 1974, p. 224, fig. 251 for a teabowl and saucer in the Centraal Museum, Utrecht.
