Lot Essay

This scene copies an engraving by B. Picart and was also copied by hausmaler at Meissen. An identical teacup, but without its saucer, is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 95, fig. 4.42.
