Decorated en grisaille at the centre with a couple seated at a table beside a wall with an extensive landscape behind them, he with his left arm around her shoulders in an amorous pose, she bare-breasted, holding out her goblet while he pours her a drink from a bottle in his left hand, their skin picked out in flesh-tones, within gilt spearheads in the well and gilt linked leaf-scrolls forming cartouches at the border, minor rim chips

An identical plate is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 161, fig. 7.58, where the authors inform us that the same design is used on a Rouen faience plate in the Ceramics Museum in Sèvres bearing the arms of Bernard d'Avernes.
