UNDERGLAZE-BLUE XIANFENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1851-1861)
With steep rounded sides rising to a flaring rim, the exterior finely painted in rich iron-red with two striding dragons, one looking backwards, amidst flames and clouds above breaking waves, all between double-line borders around the rim and the base

Lot Essay

A pair of similar Xianfeng cups of this pattern is illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection, 1983, pl.87, and subsequently sold in our Singapore Rooms, 30th March 1997, lot 369.
