A FINE AND RARE DOUCAI 'DRAGON' BOWL
UNDERGLAZE-BLUE SIX-CHARACTER KANGXI MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
With deep rounded sides rising to a flaring rim from a straight foot, finely painted on the exterior with four alternating aubergine and green five-clawed striding dragons interspersed with multi-coloured clouds above rockwork and breaking waves, all between a double band around the rim and another around the foot, the interior enamelled with a single green dragon in a medallion, minute rim frit restored
7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) diam.
