Enamelled at the centre with a mahout astride his elephant within a leaf-scroll surround and spearheads in the well, the border unusually with six panels of ladies alternating with boys beside a flower spray below the foliate rim, minor chips

Lot Essay

This central scene was used within at least four different border designs between 1760 and 1790, but this border design appears to be the rarest.
