This lot is accompanied by a note which states in part, "This hunting bag was presented to Mrs. Mary Hood Butler by a friendly Indian during the time of hostility between the Indians and early settlers. These Indians frequently gave timely warning of coming danger to different families living on the banks of the Susquehanna. Mrs. Butler with her husband, son, and daughter lived opposite what is known as the, "Indian Mound", or burying grounds at Halls Station ..."
