The first boxwood, an oni sheltering himself from a shower of beans, signed Masakatsu with a kao; the second, a seated Kannon, the himotoshi lined in ivory, signed Yoshihide; the third dark wood, carved in the form of a pumpkin which opens to reveal Hotei and Daikoku playing go, in ivory, unsigned; the fourth lacquered wood and ivory, a butterfly dancer in the court dress of the Heian period, signed Shibayama; the fifth an ivory model of a kneeling man with movable head and tongue, his jacket stained green, sitting on a straw mat beneath which are concealed a number of utagaruta [poem cards], the details rendered in various inlays, signed with incised characters on a lacquer plaque Yasuaki (Homei)
