Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1970

6 magnumsper lot
Details
A PRIVATE COLLECTION OF FINE BORDEAUX AND BURGUNDY, INCLUDING 1970 FIRST-GROWTHS
The following lots (415 to 442) were recently removed from the cool but very damp cellar conditions of an Elizabethan manor House in Sussex. Temperature has been moderated in the range of 8-10 degrees C but the natural dampness and high humidity of the space has remained without effective control until recently. The majority of the wines were purchased in the early 1980's and have remained largely untouched in the intervening two decades behind the heavy, locked Chubb safe door to the cellar.

Whilst the conditions have been most beneficial to the preservation of the wines, the same cannot be said for the effect on labels, cases and sometimes capsules. In effect this is a buying opportunity for those more concerned with the condition of the wine than the cosmetic appearance ofthe bottles. All the wines have been inspected, detailed and packed by experienced Christie's Wine Department staff. Since removal to our own storage, with much lower humidity, it is possible further labels may have become detached
