Details
Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1963
South Australia. Penfolds
Re-corked at the Penfold's Wine Clinic (no date). Good label. level into neck
Still 100 Shiraz. Most recently: still deep and fairly intense; fabulously rich, sweet bouquet and flavour, massively supported. Still tannic. M.B.
A Grange that has grown in stature with time. Winner of 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals between 1964 and 1968.
Tasting note: brick red. loose knit but deep set, gamey, liquorice/honey glaze aromas. The palate is rich and ripe with plenty of sweet fruit, gamey, prune/honeyed flavours, a ripe fine tannin structure, superb concentration and length. Drinking superbly. A.C.
A beautifully proportioned wine and a classic Grange. R.O.P.
