SELLETTE BASSE OCTOGONALE EN LAQUE NOIRE ET BRUNE BURGAUTEE

Le plateau décoré en incrustations de nacre (luotian), d'un médaillon central polylobé à motif de grues, les ailes repliées, posées près d'une rivière agrémentée de plantes aquatiques, lotus et bambous, le pourtour rehaussé d'éléments géométriques, le support composé d'une ceinture ornée de cartouches de rochers et herbes, surmontant une partie à bords contournés, décorée de branchages fleuris alternant avec huit pieds cambrés reliés entre eux par une baguette octogonale ; l'intérieur laqué brun-noir

This stand is very rare and there is no similar example. Compare with the cover of a circular box from the Ming dynasty, kept at the National Museum of Tokyo, decorated with the same kind of mother-of-pearl inlaid pattern and illustrated in Hai-wai Yi-chen, Chinese Art in Overseas Collections : Lacquerware, published by the National Palace Museum, Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, 1987, p.147, pl.144
