2o (428 x 298 mm). Engraved title, engraved portrait of Ortelius and 100 engraved double-page maps (stamps on recto of maps 5, 10 and 21, a few others stamped on verso, world map and portrait loose, some browning and dampstaining mostly marginal, a few old repairs). Modern morocco.

First edition with Spanish text, and the first edition of the Theatrum to be printed at Plantin's own expense in which neither the Nomeclator Ptolemaicus nor the Parergon was incorporated. Koeman III, Ort 23; Shirley 122.
