Second edition. Commissioned by Peter the Great, the building of the Akademie of Science housed Russia's first public museum of "curiosities" of science and nature, a library, and an anatomy dissecting theater. The museum included the collections of Albert Seba Locupletissimi rerum naturalium thesauri (aquired 1716), Ruyschs Thesaurus anatomicus (aquired 1717) and numerous other collections. The above is an illustrated guide to the building with 12 engraved plates and explanatory text. The first edition was published in 1741. Both editions are extremely rare. See Berlin Kat. 2771.
