A fine large marble stele
Song Dynasty or earlier
carved with the central standing Buddha figure flanked by two Bodhisattvas before a leaf shaped flaming mandarla. The mandarla itself carved with a small seated figure of Buddha flanked by Bodhisattvas between two confronting guei dragons. The plinth of the stele carved with a central incense burner held by two spirit figures, flanked by two lions, with a standing lokapala carrying a halperd on each edge -- 38in. (96.5cm.) high, (tip of mandarla missing, old wear)
