A Vienna (Du Paquier) two-handled beaker
Circa 1735-40
Finely painted by J.K.W. Anreiter, each side stippled in pale-purple, pale-brown and yellow with a stag in a landscape before distant buildings, the foreground painted with green and black trees within shaped black line cartouches edged with purple and red scrolls and flanked by bouquets of flowers and fruit, the foliage-moulded ear-shaped handles enriched with double-scroll terminals and enriched in gilding (slight wear to gilt rim)

Lot Essay

The decoration of this beaker anticipates the work exectuted under Anreiter's direction at Doccia in the 1740's.
