Painted with a view named on the reverse in black script Vue de la place de St. Michel, vers le palais J.R. à Vienne., the foreground with ladies disembarking from a carriage, two men carrying a sedan chair to the left, further carriages and soldiers, street-traders and figures, within a rectangular gilt cartouche with canted corners and a ciselé garland of ivy, the border edged with a band of ciselé foliage vitruvian scrolls between ciselé bands (areas of wear to enamels, minute flakes to gilding, slight scratches to gilt border, further areas of minute wear)
