A Meissen gilt-metal mounted crucifix and stand
Circa 1740, the stand with blue crossed swords mark, incised 45 and Pressnummer 4, the mount contemporary
The dead Christ nailed to a slender gilt-edged cross wearing a gilt loin-cloth and The Crown of Thorns beneath the inscription INRI. on an applied label, the base of the cross mounted in gilt-metal and supported on a stepped and chamfered stand with gilt diaper panels, strapwork and scrolls between gilt line borders and two bands of loop and foliage ornament (restored rim chip to front bottom rim of stand, extensive restoration to cross, Christ's body and loin cloth, part of label lacking)
