Lot Essay

An attribution to Francesco Solimena was suggested by Philip Pouncey who related the drawing to an angel in The Virgin appearing to Saint Filippo Neri painted for the Church of the Girolamini in Naples (F. Bologna, Solimena, Naples, 1957, fig. 184).
