The drawings in the album sold from the Giroux Collection can be identified by the distinctive numbering in pen and brown ink in the upper right corner. The album may have been put together by Bloemaert's son Hendrick, although a number of the drawings also have inscriptions in the hand of Jan Pietersz. Zoomer, a dealer-collector active in Amsterdam in the early 18th Century. Many, although not all, of the drawings can be connected either with works by Abraham Bloemaert or with the Konstryk Tekenboek, a series of prints engraved by Hendrick Bloemaert for the instruction of young artists.
