Team: Haigh, Grimshaw, Denton, Lees-Whitehead, Hunter, Myers, Rhodes, Hirst, E. Smith, Lord Hawke, H.S. Wilkinson, Tunnicliffe. Yorkshire finished second to Lancashire in the championship of 1904, Lancashire narrowly escaping defeat in Hirst's benefit match. Hirst himself was in top form throughout, scoring 2000 runs and taking 100 wickets for the first time and being the first Yorkshireman to do so.
